Whole Wheat Honey Bread (Bread Machine)

Since my bread machine (all bread machines?) make such awkwardly shaped loaves, I always use the dough setting & do my baking in the oven.  This recipe was submitted to All Recipes by MELH, but I’ve adapted it.

1 1/8 cups water

3 cups whole wheat flour

1 1/2 tsp salt

1/3 cup honey

1 Tbls dry milk powder

1 1/2 Tbls shortening

1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast

3 Tbls vital wheat gluten

Mix dry ingredients together except for salt & wheat gluten. Put salt & liquids in bread machine.  Add wheat gluten & dry ingredients.  After dough cycle is complete, place in a lightly greased bowl to rise.  Cover with a tea towel. After it doubles in size, punch down dough & place in a greased bread pan. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Brush with melted butter when done.
